Reflection
The art portion of the FoodTopia project has caused me to use the design thinking methodologies at every step during the process. When we created the tiles, we "empathized" by interviewing the second graders to understand who our audience was and how we were going to display our information to them. We then made multiple drafts of designs to get critique and revise. After building the hexagons and painting them, we were able to put our designs on them to install in the Elementary School garden. I have really enjoyed this project because it caused me to work with and rely on my partners during the building and designing process. It was difficult sometimes to include everyone's ideas for the design, but we were able to create a piece we were all proud of. Overall, this project taught me that, though design thinking is crucial in any project, it was extremely important in this one, as we had many different people critiquing us and a very different target audience than we usually do.
