Grid Drawings
In order to learn more about the importance of scale and accuracy in drawing, we were given the assignment of grid drawings in which we scaled up a small image onto a bigger sheet of paper. Everyone chose a 4 inch x 5 inch image from the internet and drew a grid of 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch squares on it. Then, we took an 8 inch x 10 inch piece of paper and drew 1 inch x 1 inch squares on it. Once we had our grids, we simply transferred the image from the smaller picture to the larger paper one square at a time. I chose to draw a butterfly sitting on a flower. This assignment helped me understand how to scale up an image and correctly maintain proportions while minimizing distortion. I am proud of my piece and I think that I was successfully able to scale up my image.
