Be-U-tiful Banners
The very first mini-project of senior year consisted of creating pennants that displayed meaningful, inspirational quotes, as well as hopes or desires for 12th grade.
Reflection
The quote that I chose to draw on my pennant was "If you ain't first, you're last," from the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. I chose the quote because I love the movie and I thought the line was funny, but I also connect to it because of my desire to win. While I do know that the quote is not necessarily true and there are often many "places" between first and last, I am a very competitive person and I feel the need to be first or best in everything I do. Losing in any capacity is frustrating to me and I find this quote motivating because it pushes me to never accept mediocrity or failure from myself. This quote inspires me to persevere and never give up, whether it be in school, in sports, or in life. Throughout senior year, I hope to use this quote to motivate myself to do my best in all my classes and everything I do, and to not give up no matter how difficult things may get.

Mathematical Expression
An additional component of this project was to write a sentence about what we were most excited about for senior year. The sentence had to include a number that was represented through a multi-step mathematical expression. I wrote "after four years of high school, I am most excited to graduate," and used a few concepts that I learned throughout high school such as factorials, exponents, and radicals to make my expression more challenging.
